Sleeping Demons is the second work in the series 'The Beast Within' that examines trauma housed in the body. It began with a question about how body holds trauma, not one, but many — small, large, old, recent. The ones we know about and the ones buried deep. All of them present simultaneously in the same interior, the same nervous system, the same body that still gets up in the morning and functions.

This painting is the interior landscape of that accumulation. Each form floating in the deep blue interior is a demon — a carried trauma, an old wound still present in the tissue. They are dormant. Not healed or resolved — but quiet enough, so that the person who carries them can still function.
