I express my emotions, experiences, and reflections through diverse media—oil, watercolor, pastel, ink, charcoal, and most often acrylic. My work “TIFFIN – A Dream Box of Common People” belongs to the series Empty Desires, which examines the social and political realities of our time.
Through this body of work, I portray the life of migrants and ordinary people—their struggles, sorrows, joys, dreams, and desires. My paintings reflect how political and social events shape their existence, often extracting the best from them before discarding, isolating, or forcing them back to their native places, as history and recent events reveal.
In this painting, I use figurative and symbolic elements—the ant as a metaphor for the common man, and the circle as a symbol of the metropolis—to represent the challenges of survival in modern society. The tiffin becomes a “dream box,” carrying not only food but also the hopes and aspirations of everyday people. It is, for me, a miraculous container that preserves the essence of their lives.
